How easy is it to get away with murder in the US? A LOT easier than some may think.
Nearly half of all murder cases in the United States go unsolved, as reported by the FBI. In comparison, countries like Australia, Britain, and Germany have clearance rates ranging from 70% to 90%. So if it came down to it, could you get away with it?
The shortage of resources, high case volume, prevalence of guns, gang-related crimes, and community distrust of police are cited as factors contributing to the lower likelihood of solving murders in the US.
Experts recommend increasing resources for investigations and implementing new technology, such as surveillance cameras, to help improve clearance rates.
