104-Year-Old Woman Bags A Buck On Her First-Ever Hunt

For years, Florence Teeters watched as her sons would wake up early and head out into the woods near their home in Phillips, Wisconsin, to go hunting. Last year, she decided to join them and spent the day hanging out in the blind. After spending the day in the woods, she told her son, Bill, that she wanted to get a hunting license so she could do more than just sit around the next time they went out.

This year, Florence got her license, and at 104-years-old, she headed into the woods, hoping to bag a deer.

“I took mom out to the blind this year. I had a nice chair for her, and it was nice and warm. A little after 4 p.m., a buck shows up about 30 yards away. I tapped her on the knee, and I pointed. She nodded and smiled and was real quiet. Then she took the shot!” Bill told WMTV.

She was ecstatic when she realized she killed a deer, screaming, "I got a buck! I got a buck!”

She didn't care that it was on the smaller side and had unbranched antlers. With the help of Bill, she proudly brought the deer home and posed for a photo with the animal in the back of a truck.

Joe Paul, with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, told the news station that he believes Florence is the oldest hunter in the state.

“I think it’s fantastic,” Paul said. “Sounds like she comes from a family of hunters, so they know what they are doing.”

Florence isn't letting her age get in the way of having fun. She recently went ziplining in Milwaukee and goes to New Orleans every year for Mardi Gras.
