Steve Howe Hints There May Be Another New Yes Album

Yes guitarist Steve Howe has hinted that the band may be poised to begin work on a new album.

Howe told Billboard in a recent interview that the band will remain active as its 50th anniversary approaches.

"We've got an interim period where we're going to be fairly secretive about what we're up to," he said. "Maybe we're building up repertoire for a future project, but we can't say. We've got ideas, but I can't say more than this right now."

In November, Howe followed-through with the release of an album—called Nexusof instrumental collaborations with his son Virgil Howe, who passed away suddenly in September.

The guitarist also told Billboard that he's considering writing more music around tracks his son had sent him.

"It's become a kind of memorial to him, you know, his legacy," Howe said. "It's a great opportunity to pay homage to him. It gives me pleasure. It's very warm. It's a record that's made with great pleasantry and great ambitions and didn't have an endless amount of problems. Now it's had a big problem, if you like, in the fact that Virgil can't be here to see this reaction. But I enjoy it immensely."

Prog rock pioneers Yes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. Howe assumed control of the group following the 2015 death of founding bassist Chris Squire

Meanwhile, Yes' other founding member, singer Jon Anderson, leads a group of former Yes members called Yes featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman, which is not affiliated with Howe's group.
