LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville Bats will honor a legend this weekend.

For the first time in the franchise's 33 year history, the team will retire a number when they retire Corky Miller's number eight during a ceremony before Sunday's game. Miller, who has spent 10 seasons in Louisville, last appeared with the Bats in May during a game in Durham, North Carolina.

He says the decision to retire his jersey caught him off guard but says he's appreciative of the decision.

Miller ends his playing career after playing in 548 games, the most in Bats history. Miller is currently working as a coach, working with catchers around the organization.
